MDA: Gary Sullivan

Living with Muscular Dystrophy is a challenge, but imagine having MD for 33 years. That is a reality for Gary Sullivan. Gary was diagnosed with Distal Muscular Dystrophy back in 1975.

33 years ago, Gary Sullivan got a phone call from his doctors. It was the answer he dreaded hearing. His wife Linda was by his side when he got the news.

Distal Muscular Dystrophy progresses very slowly a few years after the initial diagnosis. Gary started having difficulty walking. It was a friend who suggested gary contact the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Gary also got great advice from a friend who encouraged him to go back to law school. He graduated, went to work in a private practice and has lived life to the fullest, moving from California to North Dakota to Florida. And just a year ago, the couple landed in Franklin, Tennessee. He says the care he has received here in the mid-state has been tremendous.
