Escapee Wanted by the TBI
The TBI needs your help finding an escapee from Dekalb County.
He's been on the run for three years and police warn he might not go down without a fight.
Toby Lynn Young has been in trouble with the law since he was old enough to drive.
But according to TBI spokeswoman Kristin Helm, in the fall of 2004 his 'thug status' went up a few notches.
“He's accused of stealing a car, taking police on a high speed chase through a fairly rural area, ramming into a police car, taking off on foot."
Alexandria police officer Chris Russell was with the Smithville police department back then. And he was driving the car Toby Young crashed into.
“He actually run numerous vehicles off the road, endangering many lives in the pursuit, caused one of the county officers to have a wreck."
After he was caught, Young was ordered held without bond at the Dekalb County jail.
But in September of 2004, two days before he was scheduled to go to court, Young broke out and hasn't been seen by law enforcement since.
The Dekalb County sheriff tells Fox 17 Toby Young's father used to grow marijuana in these hills, and along with another man, owned hundreds of acres of land in Dekalb and Cannon Counties.
Sheriff Patrick Ray believes Toby Young could still be hiding in these hills.
“Within the past few months we've been getting some tips here that he could be bouncing between Dekalb and Cannon counties and we'd like to see him and get him picked up."
Young's criminal history dates back to at least 1997.
Everything from underage drinking, DUI, theft and weapons charges.
He's wanted now for escape, aggravated assault, car theft and reckless endangerment.
“He's a pretty violent individual and has no regard for anybody else's safety or life."
Toby Lynn Young was born in April of 1979. He has brown hair and eyes. He's 5'7 and about 180-pounds. And he has an eagle's head tattoo on his back. If you've seen him call 1-800-tbi-find.
