TBI Most Wanted: Demond Beverly

Metro police and the T.B.I. are on the trial of a murder suspect but that trail has gone cold.

The man they're looking for, Demond Beverly, is known as "Deboe" on the streets. Beverly is now one of T.B.I.’S most wanted persons.

It all started inside an abandoned milk barn on Pettus Road in south Nashville. The T.B.I. says Beverly tried to hide his most brutal crime to date, a murder.

Investigators say the victim, Charles Mills, was beaten and stabbed to death. They say the killer did a good job of covering his tracks. However, investigators say the killer left one damning piece of evidence behind. His fingerprints. The fingerprints were found
on duct tape used to bind the victim's hands and feet. Those fingerprints helped investigators develop Beverly as a suspect.

“The body was found in January of 2006. Law enforcement received a tip (11 months later) in December 2006 about the fact that Mr. Beverly might be a suspect in this case. That's when his fingerprints were matched to the fingerprint found on the duct tape of the victim,” said Kristen Helm, spokeswoman for the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

Police know little about the victim but say suspect Demond Beverly has a long criminal record dating back to 1992 including robbery, forgery, drugs, assault.

“He's a convicted felon. He has been in jail. He has served hard time. Anytime somebody gets out and they continue to commit crimes when they are violating their probation they are considered dangerous,” said Helm.

The T.B.I. is unclear on a motive for Mills’ murder or if there's a connection between the two men. In addition to first degree murder, Beverly is also wanted for probation violation.

Beverly has the name "Deboe" tatooed on his back. It's an alias and the way some of his friends know him. Beverly was born in October of 1972. He's 6 feet tall and about 230 pounds. If you've seen him, call 1-800-tbi-find.
