Utter Family Moves into New Home - Cindy Carter
Rutherford County family is finally home after one house is condemned and a second burns to the ground. Tammy Utter now lives in a 1968 trailer donated to her family by her uncle.
The Rutherford County Codes Department told Utter she and her family would have to leave her house of 20 years on Browns Mill Road because it wasn't fit to live in. However, the Utters couldn't afford to live anywhere else.
Tammy says she started to panic but within days friends and strangers started offering to help out. "People I don't even know who would just drop by and drop stuff off and they wouldn't give me their names or anything but I sure want to tell them I really appreciate it and God bless them."
One of those donations was a new trailer home but it burned down before the Utters could move in. Tammy says she was ready to give up until an uncle donated a second trailer to her family.
"It had some issues but we took care of all that." For 20 years the Utters lived without heat or plumbing. They used an outhouse and took baths in an old steel drum.
Now, Tammy says she's in the lap of luxury, not because of her new surroundings, but because so many people continue to surround her with kindness.
"I don't know how in the world I'm gonna thank the people that's donated their time... the furniture and stuff."Utter Family Moves into New Home - Cindy Carter
