TBI Searches Computers in Shirley Investigation
The internal investigation into THP Lieutenant Ronnie Shirley gets a boost from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. Lt. Shirley is already accused of gaining unauthorized access to a database used by all state law enforcement agencies.
He allegedly snooped into the personal data, such as driving histories, of 182 people. Now, THP wants the TBI to step in and check out other data bases and state equipment to see if Lt. Shirley also conducted unauthorized criminal background checks.
Colonel Mike Walker says, "One of the things we're doing today is working with TBI... for them to do some forensic for us on all the electronic devices that Lieutenant Shirley was issued."
THP investigators plan on questioning all 182 people on Shirley's list. Colonel Walker says they've reached out to more than 50 people.
"So far, everyone has been very gracious and allowed us to interview them there at the residence."
Many people still don't believe the THP should handle this internally. Attorney David Raybin says the TBI or some other independent agency should take complete control of the case.
Raybin says, "The question is: who's watching the watchers... thats really what I want to know."TBI Searches Computers in Shirley Investigation
