Vigil Planned for Pierre Colas
Developing news tonight in the murder of a Vanderbilt assistant professor.
Metro police say they are running out of leads and need your help finding the person responsible for killing Pierre Colas and critically wounding his sister.
Tonight detectives say it looks as though most likely the professor and his sister, Marie, were the victims of a robbery attempt that somehow went awry.
Colas was found Monday night shot to death at his east Nashville home, his sister was shot in the head and remains in critical but stable condition at vanderbilt medical center.
Detectives say they have taken samples from Marie's fingernails in hopes she may have scratched at her attacker at some point.
Investigators say they are still trying to piece together just what happened in the last minutes of Pierre Colas' life.
Matt Filter says: "We know just from what neighbors have said that he was last seen on his front porch about 15 -20 minutes before the 9-1-1 call came in that he had been shot. We don't know if he was confronted by the suspect on the front porch and forced back into his home or if he had come back inside and perhaps a door had been left unlocked or he had left it open intending to go back to the front porch and was confronted by the suspect inside his residence."
If you have any information or may have seen anything suspicious in the McFarrin Avenue area Monday night contact East Precinct detectives at 862-7525.
Meanwhile a candlelight vigil is planned in remembrance of Pierre Colas.
It will be at his home at 921 McFarrin Avenue Saturday evening at 6.Vigil Planned for Pierre Colas
