Metro Nashville School Heats Up - Cindy Carter
Metro Nashville Schools is trying to control a heated situation at John F. Kennedy Middle School in Antioch. Students are taking classes in classrooms which, on many days, aren't air conditioned.
Apparently, it's been that way since school started. Principal Ronald Anderson says, "It's been hot. Temperatures have been hot outside and of course, if you don't have air conditioning working on the inside and it makes the rooms hot also."
Anderson says on any given day, they're dealing with either a partial or total a-c failure. "We're trying to accommodate them by making sure students also have water in the classrooms and also fans have been provided in many of the teacher's classrooms."
The school district has brought in an outside contractor to fix the problem. They hope everything cools off by Thursday.
Officials alerted parents to the problem with their automated phone message system. Parent Christly Koslow was surprised to learn that her 7th grade son, William has been taking class in the heat.
"I'm definitely going to talk to William and see if he is experiencing the heat in class." Metro Nashville School Heats Up - Cindy Carter
